Fieldcode highlights the field service impact of the refrigerant transition after Chillventa 2026

Nuremberg, October 21, 2026 – Following its participation at Chillventa 2026, Fieldcode has outlined what the industry’s move to natural and low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants means for the day-to-day operations of refrigeration, HVAC and heat pump service organizations. At Hall 7, Stand 7-447, the company presented scheduling and dispatching, technician capacity planning, customer self-service and automated service workflows.

According to Fieldcode, the common thread across the event was clear: as new equipment reaches more sites, service delivery depends increasingly on whether each job can be assigned to a technician who is qualified for it.

Technician qualifications become a scheduling requirement

From January 1, 2027, the EU’s hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) phase-down moves to its next step, and new restrictions on high-GWP refrigerants apply to several categories of new equipment. At the same time, Article 10 of the F-gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573, which covers certification and training, extends those requirements to alternative refrigerants, including natural refrigerants, and the safe handling of flammable, toxic and high-pressure systems.

Exhibitors also showed natural refrigerant systems moving into smaller formats, such as compact CO₂ (R744) units for bakeries, butcher shops and single cold rooms. These sites have traditionally been covered by generalist technicians on routine maintenance routes.

For service organizations, this means qualifications such as refrigerant type, pressure class and national certification need to be treated as scheduling criteria rather than background information. Fieldcode supports technician assignment based on skills, availability, location, service level agreement (SLA) requirements and capacity, so these requirements can be applied consistently to every job.

Connecting equipment alerts with field execution

Connected controls, remote monitoring and predictive maintenance were visible across the halls. For service providers, the value of this data depends on how quickly an alert becomes a correctly prepared work order.

Fieldcode’s Zero-Touch approach allows service requests to enter through connected systems and integrations, be prepared with site, asset and contract information, and move into scheduling and dispatching without manual re-entry. Dispatchers remain able to manage exceptions and intervene where operational judgment is required.

Data center cooling brings new service expectations

Data center cooling was a prominent new topic at this year’s event. Operators expect fast response times, monitoring around the clock and engineers who understand liquid and high-density cooling. For service providers, this means SLA-driven scheduling and closer coordination with facility teams.

Fieldcode on the outcome of the event

“At Chillventa, the refrigerant debate was largely settled. What service teams asked us about was how to get every job to a qualified technician without checking each requirement by hand,” said Matthias Lübko, CEO of Fieldcode. “Zero-Touch automation applies the same rules to every assignment, while service teams keep control of the exceptions and decisions that need human judgment.”

Upcoming events

Service Summit — November 4–5, Düsseldorf
Fieldcode will show how incoming service information can be converted into structured field work and carried through planning, execution and customer communication. Fieldcode will exhibit at Stand M07.

HEATEXPO — November 24–26, Dortmund
Fieldcode will present field service workflows for organizations responsible for heating and cooling infrastructure. Fieldcode will exhibit in Hall 4, Stand D04.

About Fieldcode

Fieldcode is a field service management software built on 25 years of global expertise. It delivers a fully automated Zero-Touch process, automating ticket movement from creation to technician without manual intervention and easing the workload for dispatchers. The software leverages cutting-edge technology to optimize field operations, simplify processes, and improve efficiency across every stage of service management. The platform is particularly relevant for complex service environments such as IT services and telecom, where work is often spread across multiple customer accounts, regions, technical teams and service partners.
